Sullen Musik caught up with Johnny G on the road, and got him to give us some 411 on Sullen Musik Vol. 1, and what’s next for the Summer/Fall…
- How did you first become part of the Sullen Family of artists? How did that lead to your appearance on Sullen Musik Vol. 1?
I cant really say I remember other than it just happened…lol…I met Jeremy Hannah…started to get to know the brand…definitely loved the TRUE ART movement and the purely artistic direction it was heading and then it just fell into place like the perfect fit , next thing I knew I was “rollin with my Sullen family, Inked up, keepin the beat up”…haha
- Is your contribution to SMV1 a stand alone single, or is it part of a broader current release?
Straight Subliminal is a stand alone single made for the compilation and a theme song for the Sullen family… however, we definitely have 10 to 15 additional tracks ready for a full album that we have spent the past 2 years developing and are almost ready to drop featuring the infamous Mickey Avalon and Russian group “the Cats” and some other sullen artists like Anthony “2Tone” Gutierrez.
- Why did you choose Straight Subliminal to represent Johnny G on SMV1? How does the song define your vision, your story?
My story has always had and edge and I’ve always been art driven so like i said before it just fell into place like most great things do and the rest was history in the making…
- Who is working with you right now to create the Johnny G sound? Producers, collaborators, onstage performance partners?
We have a mixture of amazing and great people… from my manager Armin Mijiti, Ronnie King, Jeremy Hannah, 2tone, Vision, E @ for the record, Harper Hugg, Brandon Erqhart, Seejay Erqhart, Ellan Morison, Mickey Avalon, Joe Bakhos, Pamala Jean Noble, Chris Egger, Temmy Lee “the Cats”, my boys from Seedless, and basically everyone that’s influenced my life had helped create the sound…
- Are you playing shows right now, and if so, where can people see you coming up?
I have a lot of shows coming up with Mickey Avalon so stay posted on my site and Sullen’s blog for updates on our shows coming in August/September
- Any cool stories from the Road since you started performing live to support Mickey Avalon on tour? How are the fans in the different cities reacting?
i could tell you stories…. but then id have to kill you… our road stories are to insane to cover but id say our Friday the 13th Santa Barbra / Hermosa Beach weekend with Mickey and Sullen Tv following us around was a crazy blast !! I got to perform my song “Last Calll” with Mickey right before his last song and the crowd went bananas over it!!!
