Cypress Hill and Sublime with Rome Live!
Cypress Hill and Sublime with Rome Rocked The Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine. They’re down to just one actual member of Sublime carrying the torch these days, as drummer Bud Gaugh has exited, leaving original bassist Eric Wilson to jam with sticksman extraordinaire Josh Freese in his place.
But the real draw for fans who turned out Saturday night to see the band return to Irvine’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheater is Rome Ramirez, the young singer and guitarist who is a spot-on sound-alike for the late Bradley Nowell.
While SWR carries on, Ramirez is already breaking out into a solo career, having introduced an initial EP (Dedication) with a performance last month at the Great Park stop on the annual Warped Tour. His full-length debut is expected later this year.
We’ve reviewed Sublime 2.0 more than a few times since the group was resurrected in 2009, and we’ve also extensively covered co-headliner Cypress Hill, especially when they’re back in town for another Smokeout. So this time we thought we’d simply capture all the action (and plenty of partying fans) in pics.
